Mount Barker Baptist Church

Meets at 10am every Sunday. Family service with great children's program

The church was established in 1873. From its earliest days the church had a strong missional focus and actively engaged in public witness in the district. Until 1987 it was based at Hutchinson Rd; however since 1990 it has been based at Victoria Rd. This included a move from a traditional building in the town centre to a modern facility in the "suburbs". This is indicative of our calling: to be the people of God on mission to the community, in a modern, relevant and accessible way.

In the past 20 years the congregation has also moved from being a SABU "home mission" church to one of the larger congregations in the Baptist family of Churches in SA. Today some 300+ people call the church home and the average weekly attendance is approximately 175 (adults, youth, and children). Of note has been the broader generational spread, with many more young families, youth and children joining us. This has resulted in the development of the Sunday School (Kids Central), appointment of a youth & young adults pastor and the emergence of ministries such as playgroup.
